New Teachers

CLS has added four new teachers for the 2011-2012 school year. They are all looking forward to the begining of the new year. Here is a brief description of each of them.

Kindergarten - Allison Heideman
Miss Heideman is a recent graduate of Concordia University, Irvine with a B.A in Elementary Education.  She is originally from Bakersfield, Ca.  She has helped in kindergarten classrooms since 2006. She first volunteered at St. John’s Lutheran in Bakersfield as an aide.  More recently, while attending Concordia University, she worked in the afternoon kindergarten program at Abiding Savior Lutheran in Lake Forest from 2008 to 2010.  This past year Miss Heideman completed her public school student teaching in first grade, and student taught with us at Christ Lutheran in third grade during April and May.  She is currently moving from Bakersfield to the local area.

First grade - Natalie LiskN Lisk
Mrs. Lisk comes to us from Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, CA.   She is a graduate of Biola University in La Mirada.   She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and has hours towards her M.A. in education.   At Rockharbor she served initially as the Interim Preschool Director and Early Childhood Associate Director.  Most recently, she was the New Generations Associate.   She has done freelance writing of preschool appropriate Bible stories and has coordinated materials for David C. Cook Publishing Company. Mrs. Lisk and her husband, Ryan, reside in Irvine and are very excited to join the Christ Lutheran Costa Mesa community!


Third Grade - Alyssa MembrilaMembrila_A
Mrs. Membrila is a recent graduate from Concordia University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She served as the co-director of children ministries here at Christ Lutheran this past year; providing Christian education for children through the Sunday morning program.  She has her California credential and is currently working to complete the online colloquy program to complete her Lutheran Teaching Degree.  Requirements for this degree require the completion of eight religion classes. She enjoys painting, reading, and teaching children about God’s great love.  Mrs. Membrila and her family have been long time members of Christ Lutheran Church.  She, and her husband, Ruly, reside in Orange along with their two daughters.

Part time Science/Middle School - Kristen Bauern
Mrs. Bauern graduated from Concordia University, Irvine, with a B.A. in elementary education in 2003.  She completed her Masters in Education from Concordia in 2006. She has taught in Lutheran schools for eight years. She most recently taught sixth and seventh grade at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Menifee, CA.  She previously taught at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Orange, Ca. Mrs. Bauern and her husband, Mike, reside with their son, Logan, in Huntington Beach.
